Andy Cowell has mentioned that Adrian Newey’s recent statements in the media have motivated Aston Martin’s design team to accelerate the team’s progress.
Newey expressed concerns about data correlation with the simulator at Aston’s Silverstone HQ and identified the loop simulator as an area needing improvement, which he estimated as a two-year project.
Cowell, responding on the James Allen on F1 podcast, stated that his design team is determined to prove Newey wrong by enhancing their standards quickly.
He emphasized the importance of achieving high standards promptly, contrary to Newey’s prediction of a two-year timeline, with everyone at the factory showing determination to shorten the timeline.
As the Team Principal and Group CEO at Aston Martin F1 Team, Cowell has reignited his working relationship with Newey, focusing on open discussions about potential enhancements.
With his expertise in F1 hybrid engines from leading Mercedes’ High Performance Powertrains division, Cowell is confident in overseeing the transition to Honda engines for Aston Martin in 2026.
